Braidings: a preview not to be missed
On June 12, as a preview to the KWE! Festival, the Grand Théâtre de Québec will host Braidings, a daring, unique and inspiring fashion show-performance. Artists from Quebec's 11 Indigenous Nations have revisited creations by Quebec couturier Jean-Claude Poitras, and will unveil them in a show directed by Dave Jenniss.
Tickets are on sale now for $23.25.
KWE!: Exchanges, know-how and demonstrations
Once again this year, this free family event offers a multitude of activities.
Explore the Forest of 11 Indigenous Languages and the 11 Nations Knowledge Trail to discover aspects of First Nations and Inuit cultures, languages and know-how.
In the "Hydro-Québec cultural performance space", let yourself be carried away by songs, pow wow dance demonstrations, tales and legends, and join in the festivities to the sound of drums.
The "Let’s Talk About It! Space” and the “Biodiversity and Environment Space” offer talks open to discussion, including some particularly hard-hitting ones on the theme of product authenticity.
On Friday and Saturday evenings, you'll enjoy live music at 5 à 7, followed by open-air cinema evenings.
And to extend the experience, stop by the "Indigenous Literature Space", the KWE! counter-restaurant and the artisans' boutique - all must-sees at the festival.
And don't miss the Frétillant et agile play at the Bibliothèque Gabrielle-Roy, a literary bingo, as well as Sebastian Gaskin's show at the Grand Théâtre de Québec.
