A few days later, the Val Saint-Côme ski resort, located in Lanaudière about 120 kilometres from Montreal, will host the Freestyle FIS Moguls World Cup, featuring local talent Gabriel Dufresne and Mikaël Kingsbury, nine-time FIS Moguls World Champion. Both competition evenings, on January 9 and 10, 2026, are free to attend.
Figure skating
From January 5 to 11, 2026, the ice at the Slush Puppie Centre in Gatineau, near Ottawa, will come alive with the Canadian National Skating Championships. The country’s top junior and senior skaters will showcase their skills in singles, pairs, ice dance and synchronized skating.
Cross-country skiing
North America’s oldest cross-country ski event is back in the Montebello region on February 6, 7 and 8, 2026! Held about a one-hour drive from Ottawa, the Canadian Ski Marathon offers a unique experience on a classic trail groomed just once a year for the event, where each skier can choose their own challenge, with distances ranging from 15 to 160 kilometres.
Closer to the nation’s capital, the Gatineau Loppet — Canada’s only Worldloppet event — will take place from February 13 to 15, 2026, at Gatineau Park. Part of an international circuit that brings together the 19 most prestigious cross-country ski races in the world, the event draws elite skiers and enthusiasts alike.
Then, from March 9 to 14, 2026, more than 800 athletes will take over the trails of Mont-Sainte-Anne, about 30 minutes from Québec City, for the 98th edition of the Nordiq Canada Ski Nationals. Another major competition not to be missed!
Ice hockey
Hockey fans, head to Québec City’s Centre Vidéotron for the International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament. From February 11 to 22, 2026, thousands of 11- and 12-year-olds will compete to defend their team’s colours. And who knows — you might even catch a future NHL star in action!

Multi-sports
Why stick to just one sport when you can watch—or take part in—several?
From February 13 to 15, 2026, head to the beloved Charlevoix region for the Virée nordique. Combining competitive events and family-friendly activities, this year’s program includes a ski marathon, a running race along the St. Lawrence River, a cross-country ski course set in a spectacular valley (extended to two days in 2026), a triathlon for school kids, a nighttime snowshoe hike and an all-new skate-ski challenge.
In Québec City, the Pentathlon des neiges — the largest winter multi-sport event in the world — will welcome enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels. Competing solo, in relays, in tandems or in teams of 3 to 5, participants will move through disciplines without stopping the clock: cycling, snowshoeing, skating, cross-country skiing and running. This popular event will take place from February 14 to 22, 2026, on the Plains of Abraham.
And to top it all off, Blainville, on Montreal’s North Shore, will host the 60th Jeux du Québec finals. From February 27 to March 7, 2026, nearly 3,000 athletes aged 12 to 17 from across the province will take part in an intense week of competition featuring winter classics like curling, figure skating, cross-country skiing and hockey, as well as indoor sports such as gymnastics, weightlifting, taekwondo and fencing.
