A word about the symposium

Artists and visitors alike will be thrilled to come together for this edition of the Symposium Gatineau en couleurs - the first one since the beginning of the pandemic. The event brings together artists from all over, from Petawawa in Renfrew County, Ontario to Saint-Nazaire in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region of Quebec.

It is the largest visual arts event in the Outaouais region and one of the ten most popular symposiums in Quebec. Over three days, you will be able to visit the various booths and chat with the artists. It's a chance to learn more about visual art and acquire original artworks.

Discover this year's guest of honour

The symposium highlights a different guest artist each year. This fall, that guest of honour is painter Gilles Jean-Marie from Saint-Paul-de-la-Croix. Born in Montreal, Jean-Marie is influenced by the great masters and applies their techniques in a contemporary context. Fascinated by the transparency of colours and the subtleties of light, Jean-Marie paints various subjects with surprising ease, whether those are still lifes, landscapes or characters. Visitors who purchase raffle tickets will be entered for the chance to win one of this artist's magnificent paintings.

Bridging creativity and solidarity

Each year, the Symposium Gatineau en couleurs partners with a charity organization to promote its work and raise funds to help toward its mission. This year, the Symposium is proud to partner with Parkinson Outaouais by selling calendars. This is a great opportunity to purchase a must-have item highlighting this edition's artists and to contribute to a good cause!
