He won the museum’s fourth Prix en art actuel and is now presenting his first solo exhibit, produced with the financial support of the RBC Foundation. His work raises questions, inspires mobilization and is deeply moving. Visitors can expect an unforgettable, sensible experience at the menm vye tintin. les vies possibles exhibit. Its themes are powerful and critical and include racism, police brutality and mental health. Février is also deeply interested in the psychological and physical fragility of human beings. Manif d'art 10 – Québec City Biennial. Illusions are real. From February 19 to April 24, 2022 To mark the tenth edition of the Québec City Biennial, the MNBAQ is hosting the central exhibit of its flagship winter event. About a hundred artworks will be brought together by Curator Steven Matijcio around the theme Illusions are real, and exhibited at the Pierre Lassonde Pavilion. Discover the work of some twenty international, national and local artists that exemplify this fascinating, mysterious and timely theme. The selected artworks of this thrilling exhibit highlight trompe-l’oeil, strategies of misdirection and sleight of hand as vehicles of critical reflection on sociopolitical issues. Courtesy of the artist and the Marian Goodman Gallery, New York Photo: © Pierre Huyghe Latent Energies From February 24 to April 24, 2022 This exhibit revolves around the exceptional works of Paul Émile Borduas – one of the most important figures in modern art – in a dialog with significant pieces from artists Nadia Myre, Michaëlle Sergile, Michel Campeau, Alain Paiement, Jean-Paul Riopelle and Dominique Blain. The title refers to energies that exist without being apparent, to changes in the state of matter, and to the multiple polarities that are expressed in the creation and thought-process of Paul Émile Borduas. Latent Energies are found in matter, body and mind, between the Self and the Other, in light and darkness, trauma and resilience. All of those polarities testify to the complexity of human nature.
