Quebec's huge territory is home to plenty of festivals and attractions that promise a unique experience of adventure in nature. The wide-open spaces covered in snow and ice make for spectacular settings where anything is possible. Step out of your comfort zone this winter by taking part in exciting events and trying new activities.

Participate in sporting events for great thrills

Snow turns all of the regions in Quebec into perfect playgrounds to reconnect with winter sports and make the most of the season in an atmosphere of celebration. Looking for an adrenaline rush? Check out the ice canoe races at the Festival de la banquise and the snowmobile races at the Grand Prix Ski-Doo de Valcourt and the Festival Folifrets Baie-James.

Kids and grown-ups alike will love the Festival Feu et Glace and the Hivernades de Saguenay for an avalanche of activities, like sliding, skating and more. Haven't had the pleasure of trying ice fishing yet? The Tomcod Ice Fishing Festival is unique in the world and invites you to fish in its village of cabins on the ice.

Take part in the Gatineau Loppet, the largest international cross-country skiing event in Canada or enjoy outdoor activities in an enchanting scenery between the sea and the mountains at the Virée Nordique de Charlevoix, whereas the Traversées de la Gaspésie offers cross-country skiing and snowshoeing enthusiasts a chance to discover the region under its white coat.

Visit attractions that promise an exciting season

There are plenty of good reasons to play outside and make the most of magnificent forests, mountains and parks. See nature from a different angle on treetop courses at Arbraska or let loose on the snow tubing trails at the Glissades des Pays d’en Haut. Not afraid of the cold? Go winter camping and fatbiking with Contact Nature, which also offers interpretation activities, or try ice fishing at the Parc de la Rivière-des-Mille-Îles and the Parc Découverte Nature. For a happy mix of activities, head to the Parc régional des Îles-de-Saint-Timothée, where sliding, skating, snow scootering and snowshoeing will delight the whole family.

Want something with more excitement? Get out your skis and snowboards and hit the slopes at Mont-Orignal or Bromont montagne d’expériences. Ice climbing and exhilarating challenges are in store for you at Parc de la Chute-Montmorency, while dogsledding is one of the many awesome activities offered by Aventures Nord-Bec Stoneham.
