Feel like getting out and stretching your
legs? Why not head to the Eastern Townships
? This region, a favourite of cyclists, is
characterized by varied terrain, countless bike paths and road
circuits, mountain biking centres, a velodrome and even the only
suspended bicycle park in Canada – VéloVolant – a place where you
can bike up in the trees. The Eastern Townships have lots of
options for hard core pedallers, cyclists out on a Sunday stroll,
and everyone in between. On your bikes, get set, go!
Bromont stands out as a prime spot for mountain
biking. The circuits at Bromont, montagne d’expériences, will be
open as of May 19 and ready to host eager thrill-seekers. This is
also where you’ll find the Bromont Cycling Centre (Centre National
de Cyclisme de Bromont) and the velodrome, excellent for a foray
into track cycling. A number of programs are available, as well as
day and overnight camps, to suit many types of cyclists.

Events are held all year in the Eastern Townships
to promote cycling, and they are a great opportunity for cyclists
of all abilities to get some exercise on the region’s beautiful
circuits. Get the family together and head over to the Grand tour
du lac Mégantic on June 4. The celebration will feature music,
entertainment, a prize draw and gives you a reason to get your
bikes out if you haven’t already!

If you’re worried about getting too tired on your
trip, or you’re concerned about your bike potentially breaking
down, you’ll be happy to know that Taxi-Vélo-Rando is a service
you can use to get a lift back. Taxis are available within a
maximum delay of 60 minutes, do not need to be reserved in
advance, and can accommodate three cyclists and their bicycles.
