Located at the junction of the St. Lawrence and Richelieu rivers, Sorel-Tracy offers all kinds of exciting activities. Explore the region’s magnificent shores and islands, all while taking in the beauty of the landscape. Do you want to kayak, canoe or paddle board on the largest managed marsh in North America, visit the Maison du Marais or head out on a nature outing? You can do it all! Set sail on a boat excursion and explore, for instance, the Lac Saint-Pierre Biosphere Reserve, featuring the famous Sorel islands.

Enjoy fabulous events!

There are a number of events taking place this summer, such as iO Expérience. From June 3 to September 10, 2022, 65 local and international artists will perform on a temporary stage at the Quai Catherine-Legardeur in Sorel-Tracy, for a total of 16 magical evenings. In addition, the Gib Fest (formerly called the “Festival de la Gibelotte”) will feature a diverse lineup of shows and sports activities, all taking place in downtown Sorel-Tracy from July 1 to 31. Later, from September 2 to 4, spectators will be exhilarated by the Régates de Sorel-Tracy. These are just some of the activities planned for the coming months!

Explore the historical downtown area

Known for its rich history and often bustling with crowds, the downtown area of Sorel-Tracy offers an array of activities. For instance, the Société historique Pierre-de-Saurel offers visitors a guided tour of Vieux-Sorel starting at the Carré Royal park. Discover over 375 years of history, including that of the current Marché des arts Desjardins (which was the public market at the time), the Hotel Saurel, and many other historic sites. From June 22 to August 28, you can learn about the rich local and regional heritage.

Enjoy a lovely stroll through the downtown area and visit different attractions, all within walking distance of each other. If you’re a fan of multidisciplinary art, then a visit to the new Centre des arts contemporains du Québec à Sorel-Tracy is a must. Another site to see is the Biophare, a museum committed to raising awareness about the importance of heritage. Go from one discovery to another, and admire all the region has to offer!
