Do you know about geocaching?

Popularized in the early 2000s, geocaching is an activity that combines adventure, the outdoors and fun. A fan-favourite in this area, geocaching is an outside treasure hunt in which participants use GPS devices and specific geographic coordinates to find the hidden container (called a cache or geocache).

The Nicolet-Yamaska area has 16 municipalities and one Indigenous Reserve, where caches are hidden here and there. The area is a must for geocaching, for experienced players as well as novices. This original activity is also a great way to discover all there is to see, either on foot, on a bike, on a motorcycle or by car!

Bike to your heart’s content!

This area is a cyclist’s paradise! With 400 km (248 mi.) of circuits on country roads, 70 km (43 mi.) of which are part of the Route verte network, Nicolet-Yamaska is a wonderful place for a bike ride. The roads are practically flat, lead to the magnificent Nicolet and Saint-François rivers and are lined with charming pastoral scenery. Cyclotourism is actually a great option for visitors who want to drop by the local restaurants and tour the area’s unique museums and historic sites.

A road that promises many discoveries

Nicolet-Yamaska is where the beautiful Navigators’ Route begins. Make your way through Baie-du-Febvre, where the road is speckled with places to see, including the Parc écomaritime de l’Anse-du-port, a park that is a perfect spot for a picnic soundtracked by the singing of water birds. Take the wooden footbridge to enjoy a stroll over the floodplain and find a breathtaking sunset at the end of the path!
