For a memorable vacation, discover the regional county municipality of Témiscouata. Fill your trip with camping, hiking, cycling, canoeing, kayaking and swimming and enjoy this magnificent part of the Bas-Saint-Laurent region, located on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River.

Bike across the region on the Petit Témis trail

The Petit Témis Interprovincial Linear Park is a 134-km (83 mi.) gravel path that runs on a decommissioned railway, along Témiscouata Lake, and connects Rivière-du-Loup to Edmundston in New Brunswick. Cyclists are treated to amazing views as they follow the shore of the vast lake, and the path is dotted with many spots where they can take a break. Café Denis-Longchamps in Saint-Modeste is one of those places where you can grab a light meal and enjoy the scenery as you relax.

Make the most of your trip and pitch your tent at Parc national du Lac-Témiscouata. While you’re there you can go hiking, canoeing, kayaking or cycling and take part in discovery activities. Take your bike with you on the Lake Témiscouata ferry or the boat shuttle in Témiscouata-sur-le-Lac to form a loop that connects the regional park to the Petit Témis trail. If you prefer to travel light, the park has ready-to-camp Huttopia tents furnished with beds and in which the cookware and a heater are provided. Just bring your food and sleeping bags and you can look forward to a wonderful night at the heart of nature.

Hit the beach in Pohénégamook

When the temperature is on the rise, beat the heat at the Pohénégamook municipal beach: the most beautiful freshwater beach in Bas-Saint-Laurent. The beach is actually included in Quebec’s top ten. Nearly 1 km (0.6 mi.) of fine sand stretches along the shore of this lake open to swimming and nautical activities. Expect hours of fun and keep an eye out: you might catch a glimpse of Ponik, the mythical creature of the lake…
