And that’s what you’ll find in the Eastern Townships! Plenty of events are happening during the season to feed your inner art lover. Whether it’s spectacular colours, carefully painted works or evocative sculptures that catch your eye, you’ll see that the region’s artists are immensely talented. Don’t forget to also treat your ears to toe-tapping beats, entertaining shows and beautiful melodies at music events. Once you’ve filled up on art, make sure to feast your senses on the nature of the Townships – a work of art in itself! Start with Visual Arts Make the most of this chance to meet with artists in their studios at the events in July, August and into early September. The Circuit des arts Memphrémagog is a place for such meetings, as well as a collective exhibition presented at the Visual Arts Centre in Magog. The Couleurs Urbaines event in downtown Granby puts on a weekend of colourful art and activities! The Old Village in Bromont will be hosting a symposium, Bromont en Art, in late August, the Danville Arts Symposium combines art, music and heritage, and the Festiv’Art de Frelighsburg takes its exhibition out into the village streets for art demonstrations in a casual atmosphere. For visitors who are passionate about sculpture, the Symposium International de Sculpture de Sutton will be presenting works created in situ. Channel the Wordsmith Within Aspiring writers will get to develop their flair for literary arts at the Correspondances d’Eastman event, which is dedicated to the importance of reading and writing. The well-known Orford Festival honours art, classical music and jazz and presents free shows by music students, conferences as well as concerts at breakfast. There’s also the Festival international de la chanson de Granby, one of the most important French-language music festivals and a prestigious competition for up-and-coming musicians. Anyone who loves any kind of music won’t want to miss these big events.
