For a picturesque setting, some rest and all sorts of activities, you’re invited for a well-deserved vacation. But where to start? It all depends on what you're looking for during this festive time. History buffs, outdoor enthusiasts and anyone who loves spending quality time with the family will find their fancy. And there will be plenty of time to take it easy in the Eastern Townships.

Live the holidays in Sherbrooke

Looking for inspiration for your own celebrations? The "Petit papa Noël s’en vient…" exhibition at the Sherbrooke Historical Society presents local and foreign traditions from old times to the present day. Unleash your inner child and learn about Christmas traditions that have stood the test of time. On site you will see some sixty old toys, personal records, tales, as well as old ads and photos. And if you’re missing Christmas after the 25, the exhibition continues into late January.

Also happening in Sherbrooke is the “elf hunt”. This fun free activity in the downtown area asks participants to find the elves hidden in Sherbrooke’s murals and solve the puzzles. After completing the circuit, don’t forget to enter the draw by putting the detachable portion of the pamphlet in the box at the tourism information office, at the Marché de la Gare de Sherbrooke or at the front desk at the Times Hotel. You could win a prize!

More family fun with the animals

The Granby Zoo is open for winter as early as the day after Christmas, from December 26 to January 4. This is your chance to see how exotic animals adapt to Quebec’s winter climate. Visit the website for the precise schedule during the cold season. Another animal-themed activity: at Parc CinéZoologique in Ste-Anne-de-la-Rochelle, you can reserve a private safari with the park’s star animals under the snow. Many package deals are available for you so you can experience the spirit of Christmas with family.

Starting the season on the slopes

Enjoy the special events during the holiday season at Mont Sutton. And at Bromont, you can have a blast until 2 in the morning. There’ll be a friendly atmosphere, music, a fireplace by the foot of the slopes, surprise activities and much more!
