Outdoor fun, adventure and spirituality

The city of Rigaud is known for recreation and tourism. If you want a getaway in the heart of nature, head up to Mont Rigaud. Follow the marked pedestrian trails and enjoy a long walk on the mountain.

If you’re on the hunt for thrills, you won’t be disappointed! 15 km (9.3 mi.) of trails for mountain biking are at your disposal, and you can even rent a bike on site. Another option on the mountain is the Arbraska treetop obstacle park. The Arbre-en-Ciel course is perfect for kids while the mega-ziplines promise exhilaration!

Rigaud is also the bird-watching capital of Quebec. While you’re in the area, you’ll get to spot many species of birds that call this place home or are just passing through to enjoy a diverse territory full of easy-to-find nourishment. Keep the bird theme going and head over to Hudson to visit the Nichoir, a rehabilitation centre for wild birds.

If you’re searching for inner peace and a vacation rooted in spirituality, visit the Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine. Since 1874, this shrine built on the side of Mont-Rigaud has welcomed thousands of pilgrims.

The extraordinary story of the sugar shack

The Gallant family had long dreamed of running a sugar shack to offer the best maple products to its guests. Making the best out of a bad situation, the owners were able to make their dream come true in 2000. During the Great Ice Storm of 1998, which lasted several weeks, the hotel was badly damaged, but still sheltered close to 120 people without power during this difficult period. Once the crisis had passed, the damaged trees were used to build the sugar shack. Traditional sugar shack meals are served from March to April, but locally made maple products are now available 12 months a year.
