Abitibi-Témiscamingue, contrary to popular belief, is not found in the north of Quebec; its 65,000 square kilometres (40,389 square miles) of luxurious forests, fish-filled lakes, dynamic cities and picturesque villages are located to the south of north, stretching from the 47th to the 49th parallel. Nearly 145,000 people have chosen to live in the region. The close relation they have with their roots, despite their tender age, shapes their desire to live a healthy life on the land, founding an exceptional quality of life. To share this part of the country with warmth, the inhabitants have created a wide array of interesting sites, enriching attractions and festive, authentic events that reflect their culture. A single visit will allow you to discover the lively, innovative character of these peoples, varied landscapes and lakes stretching beyond sight. It is with great pleasure that the people of Abitibi-Témiscamingue welcome you with open arms!
