Space for Life, made up of the Biodome, the Biosphere, the Insectarium, the Botanical Garden and the Planetarium, gives you a backstage pass to science and nature. Here are some activities you won’t want to miss this summer!

RIOPELLE — A Bird Wild and Free

Joining in the celebrations of this internationally renowned artist’s 100th birthday, the Biosphere presents Riopelle – A Bird Wild and Free. This one-of-a-kind immersive experience that brings together visual arts, projections and symphonic music will drop you head first into the universe that so inspired this artist, from the grandiose landscapes of L’Isle-aux-Grues, on the St. Lawrence River, to the spectacular flights of the Snow Goose.

Botanical flavours

This summer, a full menu of mouthwatering activities awaits visitors at the Botanical Garden from July 10 to August 12, from Monday to Saturday afternoons. A series of theme weeks offers something for everyone. Discover the culinary know-how of Montreal’s cultural communities at the little market, meet local and visiting artisans and producers, stop in at the kid’s kitchen and enjoy presentations about nutrition. It’s the perfect time to discover little-understood flavours, while building up your knowledge.

Take in a show at the Planetarium

Ten shows are on the line-up this summer at the Planetarium. Inspired by ice and cold, Worlds of Ice will transport you all the way to the edge of the universe, via the ice sheets of course, in a stunning exploration of the osmosis between human and ice. This precious material, vital and enthralling, is also in danger: climate change is dramatically accelerating the melt of polar ice. Starmap to the Unseen Universe will take you on a journey to the wonders that surround us with a little help from spectacular visualisations based on the latest scientific models. Imagine travelling to the inside of star clusters and nebulae just as though you were really there!

Live the Insectarium experience

Insects, plants and humans interact and live symbiotically at the Insectarium. Travelling an immersive one-way path, visitors are invited to redefine their relationship to insects. In the Alcoves, take in the world the way an insect does. At the Great Vivarium, seize the chance to mix with many insects, including hundreds of free-flying butterflies. Under the Dome, a veritable pantheon of insects, marvel as the way you look at this fascinating universe transforms all at once.
