The Témiscouata area will enchant you with landscapes shaped by the Appalachian Mountains and 900 lakes and rivers, including the famous Témiscouata and Pohénégamook lakes. There are a thousand and one ways to explore this exceptional destination, whether on a bike, on foot, on the water or on a trip back in time. And if you want to stay and explore the area for a few days, camping, cozy inns and great restaurants with regional flavours are sure to enhance your summer vacation. Pohénégamook Beach © Patrick Noel Revel in the wonders of nature Nestled along the largest and most majestic lake in the region, Parc national du Lac-Témiscouata invites you to enjoy the outdoors and to contemplate nature. Hiking, biking, boating and discovery activities let you fully appreciate this magnificent protected territory. The park is also a superb place to pitch your tent and snooze peacefully under the stars. And if you don’t have any camping gear, the Huttopia ready-to-camp tents offer everything you need for a hassle-free stay. Getting hot outside? The water’s fine! With nearly one kilometre of fine sand, the beach of Pohénégamook is among the most beautiful beaches in Quebec. With your family, with your sweetheart or just on your own, you can go swimming, rent canoes, kayaks, paddleboats and paddleboards, and even camp on site (unserviced lots) with an RV, trailer or tent. Plus, your kids will be thrilled to try out one of the largest inflatable water games in Canada! Heaven for cyclists: the Petit Témis bike path Built on the track of a former railway, the Petit Témis linear park is the first interprovincial cycling network in Canada. It links Rivière-du-Loup, Quebec, to Edmundston, New Brunswick. Made up of 134 km of stone dust trails, the park has several rest stops, lookouts and campsites, and is entirely reserved for cyclists and pedestrians. What’s more, the Petit Témis offers a relatively flat terrain, with a maximum slope of 4%, making it accessible to everyone! Take advantage of this opportunity to visit the national park by completing the circuit from one shore to the other thanks to bridges across Témiscouata Lake. A beautiful 24 km loop!
