Why not head to downtown Saint-Hyacinthe and visit the 1555 Marché public? An architectural gem and the beating heart of Saint-Hyacinthe, the market is home to numerous agri-food businesses and has outdoor kiosks for seasonal producers. It’s the perfect place to stock up on local delicacies! In fact, the 1555 Marché public is the oldest operating public market in North America. In addition to some thirty restaurants, the downtown area has more than a hundred shops of all kinds, providing plenty of options for even the most avid shoppers.

Gardens galore

Just a few minutes from downtown, the Jardin Daniel A. Séguin has been delighting botanists and nature enthusiasts for 27 summers. This educational, cultural and tourist site boasts some 24 themed gardens, spanning across 4.5 hectares. Wander through the colourful gardens, take in the floral scents and listen to birdsong floating on the air. After all, isn’t that what summer is all about? To enjoy your outing to the fullest, have a picnic on the beautiful patio or at one of the many picnic tables onsite.

A farm unlike any other

Before leaving the region, stop by La Rabouillère farm and discover a place unlike any other. You can visit the farm on the brand-new Sentier de l’Étang and sample the many delicacies at the specialty food store. Afterwards, visit the Table Champêtre restaurant where you can savour delicious farm products and see firsthand the expertise of local artisans. Why not stay onsite and make it a true getaway?
