The KWE Festival, happening from June 14 to 16, in Québec City, celebrates the cultures and traditions of the First Nations and Inuit.

Planning a trip to Québec City? Be sure to stop by the KWE Festival, happening from June 14 to 16, 2024, where First Nations and Inuit cultures and traditions are celebrated in a big way. As an event with a spirit of togetherness that showcases the 11 Indigenous Nations in Quebec, KWE! offers a number of lively spaces for the whole family to enjoy. And on June 21, you won't want to miss the KWE! Show celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day!
Find family fun on Place Jean-Béliveau
With a rich program of encounters and entertainment, KWE! invites festival-goers of all ages to listen to tales and legends, admire pow-wow dances and take part in creative workshops. What's more, the crafts shop will once again offer authentic and unique products. You can also learn about Indigenous literature at the Je lis autochtone space presented by Librairie Hannenorak. For a special treat, the KWE! Restaurant will be offering a mouth-watering menu specially concocted by chef Maxime Lizotte.

Shows and new features you won’t want to miss
KWE! also invites you to attend captivating shows. These include Manikanetish at Salle Albert-Rousseau, an adaptation of Naomi Fontaine's novel exploring the identity, culture and dreams of young people in the Indigenous community. And don't miss Onweh, a poetry show on the preservation of Indigenous cultures, starring Josephine Bacon and Andrée Lévesque Sioui, presented at the Grand Théâtre de Québec.
There will also be screenings of films highlighting Indigenous culture, and the Inuit Space, where a real traditional sled as well as archives on the Inuit people's relationship with the sled dogs are presented. You'll also have the opportunity to take part in the activities of the Iroquoian Longhouse Space, which showcases the knowledge of the Iroquoian peoples. Don't hesitate to consult the program for even more discoveries!
The KWE! Show: a must-see
Happening on June 21, at the Agora of the Port of Québec City, the KWE! Show will feature emerging and renowned artists such as Joseph Sarenhes, Ivan Boivin Flamand, Violent Ground, Pako and Shauit. This memorable evening of music is also free! From hip-hop to rap, and protest songs to reggae and pop melodies, the diversity of Indigenous music will be on display!
