4 ideas of activities to make fall last longer

Published on October 27, 2025 Attractions to discover

The foliage might not be as bright anymore, but that doesn’t mean fall is over yet! This is actually the perfect time to treat yourself to a relaxing change of scenery, an exploration of culture, a close-up with animals or a comforting getaway.

Strolling around museums, going for a walk in nature or retreating to a cozy hotel are just a few good options to stretch out the season and enjoy the last weeks of fall before winter comes.

Connect with nature differently

Although they are less vibrant, late-fall colours can be just as inspiring, as they draw our attention to nature's changing hues. In November, flamboyance gives way to a calmer natural world, perfect for contemplation... and surprising encounters!

At Parc Oméga, the understated scenery of late fall might mean that you’ll see some of the animals better, since they could be less hidden by leaves. Drive along the trail to spot elk, bison, deer, bears and other iconic Quebec species in their natural habitat, surrounded by quiet landscapes. Morning guided tours, screened carts for rent and the park’s night tour, called Oniro, are some of the interesting features on offer to enhance your visit.

Another option for animal lovers: head to the Eastern Townships for a spontaneous stay at the Hôtel Castel, official partner of the Granby Zoo. In addition to offering a package that includes a day of activities at the zoo, this welcoming and comfortable hotel knows how to cater to families. But you’ll have to hurry if you want to see the zoo in the fall, because it will be closing its doors on November 2, 2025, in preparation for its winter reopening!

Treat yourself to a long weekend away

What better way to make fall last longer than to indulge in a weekend away from home? The shorter days of late-fall become a great excuse to recharge your batteries before winter sets in. And to enhance that feeling of escape, why not treat yourself to a real change of scenery by choosing a more remote destination?

In the region of Gaspésie, Hôtel Interprovincial welcomes you for a getaway where you can take your time and breathe easy. On site, the Pastali restaurant offers comforting dishes, while Le Billard bar is the perfect place to unwind with friends. What's more, lower rates outside of peak season make it easier to extend your stay or treat yourself to a condo or suite for added comfort.

Rest, flavours, and nature await you at the Le Danube Bleu in the Côte-Nord region. It's the perfect place to relax after a day in the forest, savour local specialties and feel like you’re far away from your everyday cares. The affordable room rates at this time of year are also a great incentive to discover fall in a different way and enjoy the tranquility of the region.

How does a relaxing getaway by the lake sound? Manoir Lac-Etchemin, located about 90 minutes from Québec City, invites you to spend a weekend in complete serenity. Enjoy the comfort of your room as well as a hearty meal with a local touch, a few exotic notes, and bold flavours to suit all tastes. The peaceful atmosphere and exceptional hospitality are sure to make it a treasured memory!

Take a cultural trip to Québec City

For a vacation that is just as restorative, Québec City is a must-see destination in any season. Stroll along through the cobblestone streets of Old Québec, immersing yourself in history and seeing the province’s capital in a different kind of setting.

Is there any more iconic sight in Québec City than the famous Fairmont Le Château Frontenac? A stay at this legendary Château puts you within walking distance of all the museums and historic attractions of Old Québec. What's more, the Start Christmas in November package, created specifically for this time of year, allows you to enjoy both the end of fall and the anticipation of the holiday season.

A gem to discover in Wendake, the Hôtel-Musée Premières Nations combines accommodation, culture and cuisine. Be sure to visit the Huron-Wendat Museum on site to learn more about the history of the Wendat Nation, as told by the community itself. Several packages are available to enhance your stay and include activities like the Onhwa' Lumina nighttime trail and meals at the onsite gourmet restaurant La Traite. The hotel is also an ideal starting point for visiting Québec City, located a 30-minute drive away.

Explore museums for some fun in any weather

The weeks of November are a perfect time to feed your curiosity. To continue immersing yourself in culture, we suggest some museums to visit to fill cloudy days or to explore and discover new interests at any time!

In Montreal, the McCord Stewart Museum is renowned for its rich and unique exhibitions that take visitors on a journey through time and space to highlight less-explored facets of history. Africa Fashion and Aunties’ Work are the current exhibitions, but you can also discover Indigenous Voices of Today, the permanent exhibition.

Still in Montreal, this time head to the Old Port and the Pointe-à-Callière museum for a family outing. The fun and immersive Alley-oop – An Interactive Adventure promises to entertain parents and children alike with a variety of games brought to life with charming animations. And for budding detectives, the world of Sherlock Holmes will be in the spotlight starting November 27, 2025, inviting you to become masters in the art of deduction!

Another family favourite, the Sherbrooke Museum of Nature and Sciences is hosting a fascinating interactive exhibition called Cipher | Decipher, which explores the field of cryptology. You can then continue your visit of the museum by discovering amazing scientific projects or encountering unusual wildlife through the discovery of taxidermied specimens.
