Pointe-à-Callière, Montréal Archaeology and History Complex
Pointe-à-Callière, Montréal Archaeology and History Complex
Pointe-à-Callière, the birthplace and museum of Montréal, is built above authentic remains that bear witness to the area's evolution, from the days of Indigenous occupancy to the construction of the city’s first settlement—Fort Ville-Marie—to the present day. Consisting of 7 buildings linked via an underground network, the Museum features striking permanent exhibitions in which history is brought to life through the innovative use of new technologies, to the delight of visitors. Concurrently, Pointe-à-Callière also presents temporary exhibitions on the history of Montréal and on the world’s great civilizations.
