When Trois-Rivières lives and breathes poetry
Published on September 8, 2025 • Featured Events
In the fall, Trois-Rivières flows to the rhythm of words as the city comes alive in a unique way. There are more opportunities to gather, to talk and, especially, to listen. From October 3 to 12, 2025, the Trois-Rivières International Poetry Festival turns coffee shops, bookstores and public places into lively spaces that cultivate the pleasure of sharing words.

International Poetry Festival
Whether you love literature or are simply curious about the world of poetry, the festival is the perfect opportunity to experience words woven together differently, in a warm atmosphere open to everyone.
Savouring words with dinner or drinks
The festival has proven that poetry and good food go well together. Each day, in several partner restaurants and bars, such as Le Four à bois, Le Sacristain and Café-bar Zénob, poets recite their works while patrons sip pre-dinner drinks or enjoy a meal. Hear the works of three to five poets, with pauses to discuss amongst yourselves and with the other patrons. The atmosphere is friendly and the premise is simple: eat, drink, listen and then head out with a head full of poems.
Poetic lunch at Librairie Poirier
If you prefer intimate discussions, you are sure to like the poetic lunches at Librairie Poirier. Every day from October 4 to 12, 2025, the bookstore welcomes two or three poet panellists to discuss their journeys, inspirations and vision of poetry. You can listen, ask questions and even bring your lunch. During the festival, Librairie Poirier, at 1374 Boulevard des Récollets, turns into a space where literature comes alive in conversation, without formality, for closer connection.
Poetry and pastries for kids (and adults!)
The festival did not forget about young minds! At 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, at Bibliothèque Gatien-Lapointe, Soulières éditeur offers a very gentle introduction to poetry, led by Nadine Descheneaux, Sylvie Poisson and others. What to expect: poetry readings, chocolate croissants, juice and coffee. A perfect way to have children learn about the pleasure of words, in a friendly, unpretentious atmosphere. An experience everyone in the family is sure to enjoy, even if they’re not poetry lovers (yet!).
