Break the ice and dare to try ice fishing! At the beginning of January, when the ice starts to set on Quebec's numerous rivers and lakes, little shacks start to pop up on the frozen surface; a sign that ice fishing season has begun! This activity dates back to the Amerindians and is still practised today simply as a way to enjoy winter. Quebec is renowned for ice-fishing: tommy cod fishing in Saint-Anne-de-la-Pérade is famous worldwide. The Saguenay, one of North-America’s longest and most beautiful fjords, fills visitors with wonder! It is also possible to go ice-fishing and enjoy the warm comfort of a cottage in several of the parks belonging to the Sépaq network (Réseau Sépaq). Ice-fishing is one way to see the winter panorama from a new perspective, to enjoy beautiful days outside and get your fill of fresh air or to practise a unique activity in good company.
