Indigenous sites reflect the image of First Nations peoples who lived on Quebec territory long before the existence of New France. Eleven Indigenous nations can be found in Quebec, each with its own distinct language and culture. Wendat, Algonquin, Innu and Cree, all have at least one thing in common: a welcoming hospitality and desire to share their history. Indigenous Quebec unites aboriginal tourism businesses and corporations across the province. Many thematically organized sites are found throughout Quebec, where houses, festivities and traditional items from Indigenous culture are recreated. In some cases, entire villages may be visited in the company of Indigenous guides. Some sites even include the possibility to enjoy the full experience with a traditional meal, show and on-site accommodations, in a tepee or longhouse.
