Get ready for a slew of surprises at Musée POP! If you’re planning a vacation in Mauricie or passing through Trois-Rivières this summer, a stop at this fascinating museum is a must. Open daily in the summer, Musée POP showcases the evolution of Quebec society and promotes the province’s popular culture through various interactive exhibits and activities for the whole family.

A super-powered exhibit

Check out this summer’s flagship youth adventure exhibition: Superhero’s DNA! This superhero-themed exhibit is a playful journey aimed at building kids’ self-esteem. Through a course dotted with hiding places, a climbing wall, skill games and other obstacles, kids will complete their mission and help Professor Laforest save the city. They’ll also learn that superheroes are in fact everyday people, like scientists and athletes, from whom we can all draw inspiration in our daily lives.

A stunning wardrobe

In a very different but equally entertaining setting, admire women’s clothing like you’ve never seen before in the exhibit Peaux d’âmes. Using recycled materials, artist François Bertrand draws inspiration from women’s clothing and focuses on period gowns, evening or dance dresses, corsets and more to create his artwork. At 1.82 metres tall, La Reine-Mère - hommage à Noëlla Gaumond, is a spectacular dress made of aluminum can tabs, brass wire, an engine propeller and a bell. Among the over thirty pieces in this contemporary pop art exhibit, La Reine-Mère is certainly the star of the show!

When two worlds collide

To create his fabulous pieces, artist François Fréchette finds inspiration in the whimsical world of renowned storyteller Fred Pellerin. Dedicated to Pellerin’s work, this exhibit entitled C'est la faute à Babine! presents a series of stained glass windows in a naive and caricature style, depicting the numerous allegations against Babine, a kindly outcast plucked from the storyteller’s imagination. But don’t worry; there’s always a twist to keep Babine alive and well throughout the exhibit!
