Inaugurated in 1992, on the very site where Montreal was founded 350 years earlier, Pointe-à-Callière is a national archaeological and historic site. Its existence is directly linked to major archaeological discoveries made in Old Montreal from the 1980s onwards. Through underground tunnels, you can explore the remains of several centuries of history, from the settlement of the First Peoples to the present day. In addition to permanent exhibits, the museum features three temporary exhibitions and an impressive multimedia show.

At the heart of Egypt’s mysteries

Learn more about the daily lives of the men, women and children who inhabited Ancient Egypt as you walk through the exhibition Egypt. Three Millenia on the Nile. Immerse yourself in three millennia of history with this experience that puts a human face on this brilliant civilization. Over 300 authentic objects from the collection of the Museo Egizio in Turin, Italy, showcase the Pharaohs’ social, religious and cultural life through an exhilarating journey. From its origins to its conquest by the Romans, this civilization – to which we owe our intellectual heritage, the birth of architecture, and the concept of space and time, among other things – will amaze you.

An exciting summer on the Pointe

For the summer, the area between Place Royale and Place D’Youville, just steps from the museum, will be open to pedestrians only and transformed into an urban oasis with a host of free activities. Summer on the Pointe will be festive, with a block party featuring music, creative workshops, a bar and food, plus Musical Middays, Family Sundays and an 18th-century Public Market!
