From September 29 to October 16, celebrate the 25th edition of Canneberge
en fête at the Cranberry Interpretation Centre (CIC) in Saint-Louis-de-Blandford, located in the Centre-du-Québec region. This must-attend fall event is a chance for the whole family to have fun, while learning about growing and harvesting this small, nutrient-packed fruit.
You can choose from an array of guided tours for a unique, educational and fun-filled experience. Take a ride on a tractor-pulled wagon and admire the beautiful red fields right in front of you. There are also discounted rates for groups of 25 or more! If you’re looking for a thrilling experience, why not climb aboard a helicopter? As you soar over the site, you’ll take in breathtaking views of the cranberry fields, the town and the fall colours! Visit the website for the full schedule and rates.
Did you know pollenization, water management and proper maintenance all play a vital role in cranberry farming? If you answered no, then why not visit the all-new interpretation room, watch a video presentation, play games and attend talks at the Cranberry Interpretation Centre? Here, you’ll learn all about how this small, red fruit ends up in your favourite pies, smoothies, sauces and desserts. You can also listen to the blacksmith as he explains the history of cranberry growing in Quebec and the technological advancements used in cranberry farming, a practice most people are unfamiliar with.
Of course, your outing wouldn’t be complete without visiting the kiosks (open on weekends) to sample cranberry delicacies from different processors. You can also savour cranberry-inspired meals at the restaurant. Oh, and don’t forget to stop by the boutique to stock up on—you guessed it—specialty cranberry products as well as over a hundred different products, such as terrines, confits, handmade soaps, teas and much more. Enjoy!
