The 46th edition of the Gatineau Loppet, held in the magnificent Gatineau Park, will take place from February 16 to 18, 2024! Part of a series of international events, the Gatineau Loppet brings together skiers from near and far. In fact, the event features a variety of events to cater to participants of all levels. So, get your skis waxed and get ready to join around 2,500 cross-country skiers for a unique experience at Canada’s biggest international cross-country ski event!

Discovery waves for all levels

The event is designed to bring together cross-country skiers, no matter what their background is. The discovery waves are ideal for beginners or skiers who simply want to get to grips with racing without the competitive element. These are groups of skiers who set off after the racing group, in waves, to cover distances ranging from 5 to 50 km, and whose runs are not timed. There are discovery waves on both Saturday and Sunday.

The Ultra Challenge

The Gatineau Loppet, while accessible to all, is first and foremost a race, and the more seasoned cross-country skiers who want to challenge themselves will want to try their luck by entering the 100 K Ultra Challenge, presented by Euro-Sports. This event rewards the first three runners in the Men’s and Women’s categories to complete the 50 km Free Technique and the 50 km Classic Technique. The winners will share a total prize of $1,500. Registration is now open – check out the website for all the details!

Make way for the next generation!

The organizers of the Gatineau Loppet wanted to make room for everyone! The little ones can take part in an event customized to their level! Whether you’re looking for an introduction to the sport, or to train up-and-coming athletes, the Mini 2 km Sport Échange Outaouais is perfect. It starts at noon on Sunday, and gives youngsters a taste of this major sporting event and shows them the fun of an outdoor family activity. Parents can accompany their kids on the course. And with hot chocolate and sweets served at the end, it’s a great family day out you won’t want to miss!
