Map
Located between the municipalities of Sorel-Tracy and Trois-Rivières, Lake Saint-Pierre is the last place where the St. Lawrence River widens before the estuary. It includes, upstream, an archipelago of a hundred islands where a great diversity of plants and animals abound. In 2000, UNESCO designated Lake Saint-Pierre as a World Biosphere Reserve in recognition of the quality of its natural environments, the diversity of flora and fauna in the area, and the efforts made by the communities to preserve and conserve this unique ecosystem.
