Come visit Beauharnois generating station, one of the world’s largest hydropower facilities, located about 40 kilometres from Montréal. You’re sure to be impressed by its 36 generating units: stretched out over nearly a kilometre, they make this station Hydro-Québec’s most powerful run-of-river plant. In fact, this amazing monument to human know-how has been in a class of its own since 1932. The structure is also a treasured example of Québec’s cultural heritage, thanks to its award-winning Art Deco architecture. Don’t miss the interpretation centre featuring the captivating exhibit “Beauharnois Generating Station: Exceptional since 1932.” Important: Visitors must comply with certain obligations. Be sure to read the Schedule and practical information section of the Web site. Limited space; reservations required
