Experience winter fishing

If you’re looking for a unique activity this winter, why not try ice fishing? From mid-January to mid-February on the Glaces du Fjord in Saguenay, villages of colourful cabins dot La Baie’s incredible landscape. It’s truly a dream destination to practise this unique winter sport! Some outfitters rent fishing huts and supply all the equipment needed for a great day outdoors with family and friends.

Explore the great outdoors on snowshoes

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced snowshoer, you’ll get your fill of snow-covered terrain all winter long in Saguenay. Bundle up and put on your snowshoes to explore this larger-than-life landscape! At the Parc national des Monts-Valin, the Pic-de-la-Tête-de-Chien trail is perfect for spending a half-day outdoors. While you’re in the area, why not explore the famed Vallée des Fantômes and its breathtaking landscape? If you take the Route du Fjord, be sure to try backcountry skiing in Sainte-Rose-du-Nord where you can take in the breathtaking view of the Saguenay Fjord. Grab your skis and hit the slopes

Explore the snowy mountains and enjoy the incredible ski slopes—the region’s best-kept secret! Le Valinouët is one of the only ski resorts in Quebec that offers 100% natural snow, and includes various off-trail sectors where you can play in the powder. At Mont-Édouard, you can test your skills on world-class competitive trails. What’s more, thrill seekers can access the mountain’s ski touring sector with climbing skins or snowshoes. If you want to catch a glimpse of the colourful fishing cabins while skiing, Mont-Bélu is a great option that’s close to town. You can even go night skiing if you want to keep the fun going after the sun goes down. In addition, L’Anse-Saint-Jean and Petit-Saguenay have also introduced wilderness skiing by offering off-resort sectors for thrill seekers. Your climb up the mountain will be rewarded with a powdery descent!
