The Parc national de la Gaspésie, now recognized as a mecca for hiking in Québec, was created in April 1937 in order to permanently protect the Gaspésie Caribou and the beauty of Mont Albert and the McGerrigle Mountains, as well as the salmon of Rivière Sainte-Anne. The altitude of these mountains deeply influences the climate that create the landscape and creates a diversity of species unique to Québec, and even the world.
