If you’re planning a getaway in Mauricie this summer, then Musée POP in Trois-Rivières is the perfect place to soak up local culture! Impressive and accessible to those young and old alike, the museum showcases the diversity and evolution of Quebec culture and its unique identity. This summer, be entertained by new, captivating exhibits, along with a special program to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Old Prison of Trois-Rivières!

Circus arts at the museum!

From May 27 to September 5, 2022, get ready to be amazed by It’s Circus time!, an exhibit created by Pointe-à-Callière. Interactive activities, stunning set designs, and a magical sound and light scape will showcase the excellence of Quebec’s circus arts. Be delighted by costumes, set pieces, works of art, accessories, scale models, iconic objects, and training and stage equipment, all displayed alongside archives, photos, video footage, and projections. It’s a world of fantasy that will give visitors a truly unforgettable experience!

An incredible collection of pins

From June 17, 2022, to March 26, 2023, Musée POP will also present Pin Québec!, an exhibit featuring close to 27,000 pins acquired by René Marois, a passionate collector. This exhibit will showcase topics relevant to Quebec history from 1970 to 2015, such as language, religion, economic and sports activities, arts and culture, and politics. These pins will display messages, slogans, events and beliefs from various spheres of society, giving viewers a snapshot of the themes that shaped pop culture in Quebec over the years.

New activities at the Old Prison

Classified as an historic building and part of the museum complex, the Old Prison of Trois-Rivières presents In the Big House: Encounters Behind Bars, a new guided tour that combines technology and real-life stories to help visitors get to know the site and better understand the living conditions in this 19th-century prison. You can also visit The Art of Crime – Dramas and Wrongdoings in Mauricie From 1822 to 1986, a fascinating exhibit on the history of crime in Mauricie, which will be presented from June 23 to September 5, 2022, to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Old Prison.
