Do you know a little, a lot or almost nothing about the history of New France? It doesn't matter, because festival-goers of all ages are invited to take part in the TD Treasure Hunt, taking place from August 5 to 15 in the Old Québec and Petit Champlain neighbourhoods for the TD New France Festival!

This cultural activity is a chance to discover this period of Quebec history while having fun with family and friends. Participants will have to find the keys to the seven doors of time that appeared in Old Québec City so that the historical characters lost in our current world can find their way back to New France.

History from different perspectives

Participants will have to rescue seven characters in total: Marie Rollet, the first French woman to settle in Canada, Marie-Anne Barbel, a Canadian businesswoman who lived during the time of New France, Indigenous Chiefs Kondiaronk and Donnacona, Pierre Dugas de Mons, the first colonizer, as well as Olivier Le Jeune, the first recorded slave bought in New France, and Jean Talon. The diversity of characters offers players several perspectives of what reality was like in the colony. To learn the story of each character, you’ll have to unlock video clips and historical content as you progress on the quests. Those clips were produced with the help of history experts.

You can also participate for free virtually using your cell phone. However, only the Medallions offer the chance to win the grand prize ($2,000 in cash!) and to complete the quests.
