La Grave site was designated a Québec Heritage Site in 1983. It is the oldest commercial site in the archipelago, frequented by sailors in the 17th and 18th centuries. The village of Havre-Aubert was also the first place of settlement for the Acadians who came from Miquelon in 1792. Today, La Grave boasts fifteen authentic buildings, or "witness buildings", which tell the story of the area.
