In Quebec, you’ll find all kinds of interpretation centres that promise rich discoveries. Many of them highlight various aspects of nature, be it marine or woodland wildlife, plants and flowers or the wetlands. Make the most of a luminous autumn day by heading out to one of these attractions that have so much to offer!

Exceptional natural environments

The Montréal Botanical Garden knows how to amaze visitors, thanks to ten greenhouses, twenty themed gardens, an arboretum and three exceptional cultural gardens representing China, Japan and the First Nations. Fun for kids and parents alike!

Located between the Parc national du Mont-Orford and the Memphrémagog Lake, the Cherry River Marsh invites you to discover various ecosystems thanks to 5.8 km of trails that couples, families and even dogs and their masters will love to explore. A lookout and long footbridge over the water lead you to the abundant biodiversity or this site year round. The interpretation centre is definitely worth a detour, not only for the exhibits, but also for its impressive architecture.

Memorable meet-ups with animals

Located in Bécancour, the Centre de la biodiversité du Québec welcomes you into the world of Quebec’s biodiversity. In addition to the Journey to the bottom of the St. Lawrence multimedia show, the centre introduces visitors to exhibits all about species found in urban areas and takes a close look at birds of prey, racoons, an otter and a skunk, not to mention Quebec’s reptiles and amphibians. Nature lovers won’t want to miss a walk along the eight forest trails and ecosystems on a crisp autumn day.

Anyone who is passionate about animals with adore a visit to Refuge Pageau. Located in Amos, this shelter has been taking care of orphaned, sick or injured animals for over 30 years, nursing them back to health and releasing them back into the wild when possible. You’ll meet with moose, bears, wolves, white-tailed deer, racoons, birds of prey and many other adorable representatives of Quebec’s wildlife.

If you’re planning a getaway to the legendary whale-watching destination of Tadoussac, you’ll no doubt find it interesting to visit the Interpretation Centre on Marine Mammals, the region’s most popular museum. A fascinating collection of one-of-a-kind skeletons, including a 13-metre-long sperm whale and a giant baleen whale, and the sonorous universe of these giants of the sea are featured. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled outside – you might just spot a beluga whale near the interpretation centre!
